Fall Report: Granny's Closet

Oscar de la Renta’s 2012 Fall collection remains exquisite, with his most intricate designs and embellishments. Floral, lace, tweeds and even knits are the key to Oscar’s inspiration for his collection this year. However, the question that has been asked by many is why such a conservative twist this season? Could it be that the cooler weather is causing fashionista’s to cover up with knitted shawls and lace jackets in a vintage fashion? While this could be true, could it be a more accurate prediction that based on de la Renta’s Fall collection of a conservative dress with a progressive flair, demonstrates the economy is trying to reach a more positive future.

Pedal For Your Thoughts..

                   How to Wear Floral Print
Every girls look can be brightened up with floral print. Flower power is everywhere from blouses to skirts and even accessories! The trick is finding what prints work best for you and how to mix and match them.
Tips for wearing the print
·        Choose a size. The bigger the flower, the bigger the statement. If you dare to go bold- choose a print with bigger flowers. If you want a more delicate look, choose a print that has tinier flowers. The prints should also be bright, eye-catching colors.
·        Match your petals. If you choose to wear a floral print top, match it with a solid bottom such as a pair of jeans or pants that match the colors in the floral print. If you wear a floral bottom, wear a solid color top. This gives your outfit the right balance.
·        Blossoming sweaters. Wearing a cardigan over a floral print is the trick to toning down a busy piece. Choose a solid blouse or sweater and wear floral all year long!
·        Enhance with buds. If you are not so daring to wear floral printed clothes, accessorizing with floral prints may work best for you. Choosing a floral printed scarf, shoes or jewelry to wear with solid colors can illuminate your outfit just enough!

This is a floral print outfit I mainly wear in the fall & winter time. It looks great with tights or leggings and brown boots.  The skirt is from Forever21- I bought it at Platos Closet for $8. The lace shirt is from Charlotte Russe.

I love this floral print dress, from Charlotte Russe. It's girly and fun! The bottom flares out just enough so it flows along with you. The black part of the dress actually comes to V in the front and back which makes the dress unique.

This is a silk blouse, the flowers printed on it makes the piece very feminine. You must wear a cami underneath it because it's see-through but it still looks great, esp. with dark jeans or colored shorts. You can wear it dressy or casual. The brand is called Pinky, and I purchased it at Plato's Closet for under $10

This is another dress that I love to wear dressy or casual. I usually wear a black belt with it to separate the patterns. The patterns have flowers and swirls on them, which gives the dress a vintage feel. I bought this dress at the store I work at, TJMAXX for under $20.

The "How To Wear Floral Print" is actually an article I wrote for my Floral Trend board I created for one of my fashion classes. I may post a picture of my board as well. I also mentioned a store called Plato's Closet. I shop there quite frequently, they have an amazing variety of different clothes and brands, all for great prices!  You can visit: www.platoscloset.com to see more and find where all the different locations are!

The Fashionista Herself

My love for fashion is the number one reason behind the creation of this blog. Fashion has always been a huge part of my life and I want to share my fashion sense with the world...

I'm currently a college student, majoring in Fashion Merchandising. As I'm working toward earning my degree, I am also starting my own business as a Personal Fashion Stylist. My message to women is that they can look great, for an affordable price. It does not matter how much something costs, as long as you have the right "style sense" and confidence to wear it!

I will soon post the link to my website, where I talk more in depth about my Personal Stylist Business, as well as showing you all amazing outfits, where to buy them, how much, fashion news and my own "How To" articles. So stay tuned!

Feel free to comment/ message me at anytime!
